GENERAL WORKERS: STREET CLEANING & LANDFILL SITES x 04 Posts across all
units (PL 14) R117 282.00 PA
Requirements:
Grade 10.
1-Ability to read and write.
2-Good interpersonal skills, ability to work as an individual and part of a team.
3-Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual duties as required.
4-Ability to cooperate with the general public and work as part of an effective team.
5-Ability to speak two of the main languages spoken in the area.
6-Ability to work long hours
7-in adverse weather conditions and in an unpleasant on our environment.
Responsibilities:
Sweep refuse from municipal streets, gutters and sidewalks into pile.
Pick up litter and similar rubbish from municipal streets, lawns, flower beds, median strips and side walks.
Remove heavy concrete and steel lids and clean out of side entry pits.
Empty street public dustbin.
Assist with the cleaning up of spills, e.g. oils, fuel, concrete.
Undertake general cleaning, labouring and maintenance.
Work a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
Clean the tools after usage.
Responsibilities: Undertake
general labouring tasks associated with providing support during installation, repair and
maintenance of water reticulation systems by using hand held tools to excavate defined areas,
laying of pipes and lines, cleaning or clearing of overgrown vegetation interfering with water
and waste water systems. Assist with the laying of pipes and installation of meters, perform
maintenance tasks on sewer systems, pump stations, workshop areas, stores equipment and
tools. Pumping of sludge. Cleaning of pump stations, using of different tools as required for
the tasks. Sanctioning of septic tanks, VIP toilets and any other related duties to water service.
Clean worksites, designated municipal vehicles and load materials prior departure to and from
work site
