Hospitality Work Integrated Learning Programme for Youth

Hospitality Work Integrated Learning Programme for 2025
Majuba TVET College, in partnership with CATHSSETA and the Hospitality and Tourism Sector, a leader in vocational and technical training in KwaZulu-Natal, is empowering Hospitality students through its dynamic 18 Months Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme. This initiative is more than just an internship — it’s a structured opportunity that fuses theoretical knowledge with real-world industry experience, equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in South Africa’s vibrant hospitality and tourism sectors.
What Is the Hospitality WIL Programme?
The Work Integrated Learning Programme in Hospitality at Majuba TVET College is tailored for students who have completed or are close to completing their National Certificate (Vocational) or N6 Certificate in Hospitality. Through this programme, students are placed in real hospitality establishments such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, and guest houses, where they gain hands-on experience in areas like:
- Food preparation and culinary arts
- Housekeeping and room service operations
- Front office reception and customer service
- Event coordination and catering management
MINIMUM CRITERIA AND TARGETED PROGRAMMES:
- Hospitality N6
- Applicants must be South African
- Be unemployed and not currently in any Education or Training Programme or have being part of a WIL Programme before
- At least 90% of students below the age of 35 years

Why Is This Programme Important?
The hospitality industry is one of South Africa’s key economic drivers, yet many graduates struggle to enter the job market due to a lack of practical experience. Majuba’s WIL Programme addresses this gap by providing relevant, supervised industry placements that meet national curriculum standards. Students not only sharpen their technical abilities but also develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Applicants need to submit:
- A CV (not more than 2 pages)
- Certified Copy of ID
- N6 Academic Results (NOT N6 Certificate)
- Letter from Host Employer if student is already at the Workplace
