What You Will Do & Learn
The learnership balances academic studies with practical work in a global corporate environment. You will gain hands-on exposure to four foundational areas of modern cyber defense:
Cybersecurity Operations (SOC): Learn how teams monitor networks, analyze real-time security alerts, and detect digital threats.
Threat Intelligence: Understand how cyber threat data is gathered, analyzed, and used to build proactive defenses.
Digital Forensics: Practice evidence collection, learn proper legal-compliance investigation frameworks, and test forensic tools.
Human Cyber Risk: Focus on the behavioral side of security by assisting with employee awareness campaigns and analyzing user vulnerabilities (like phishing protection).
Minimum Application Requirements
To be eligible for the intake, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be at least 18 years old.
Hold a Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate with passes in Mathematics and Science (Note: Math Literacy is typically not accepted for technical engineering streams).
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a genuine curiosity about technology or ethical hacking.
Have clear written and spoken English communication skills.
Good to Know: You do not need a prior IT degree or extensive background to apply. De Beers actively looks for raw potential, discipline, and a willingness to learn. University graduates looking for a career pivot into cyber security are also welcome to apply if they meet the Matric subjects baseline.
Recruitment Process
Applications must be submitted online through the Anglo American / De Beers Group careers portal. Shortlisted candidates usually undergo a multi-stage review, including CV screening, interviews, psychometric assessments, background verification, and standard criminal record checks.
